CANTON — Ten St. Lawrence County members of the category of 2023 have been just lately named as recipients of the Northern New York Group Basis Evergreen STEM Scholarship.
College students are awarded the scholarship resulting from their curiosity and intent to check in a science, know-how, engineering, or arithmetic discipline whereas in school. College students apply throughout their junior yr of highschool and are chosen in the summertime. Recipients will obtain a one-year $3,000 scholarship towards their freshman yr of school this fall.
The Evergreen STEM scholarship is made potential because of the generosity of former Gouverneur resident and Massena native Charles Owens and his late spouse, Higouhi “Hello” Owens. The scholarship is a everlasting fund of the Group Basis and gives $30,000 yearly for highschool college students who dwell in St. Lawrence County. Since its inception, 70 college students have been awarded Evergreen STEM scholarships totaling $210,000 in instructional help.

Mrs. Hosier is a retired English trainer who spent 33 years instructing within the Port Byron College District, and Bruce Owens is a retired electrical engineer who spent almost 35 years working as an engineer for international plane producer Boeing.
This yr’s college students are interested by pursuing careers in training, engineering, biology, veterinary research, biomolecular science, and arithmetic, amongst others.
